Share Fair Regulations
The Share Fair lasts for 45 minutes and takes place right after the keynote speaker /Job-Alike PLCs on Friday. It takes place in the auxiliary gym. 30 tables are set up and participants freely walk around and look at the different displays and demonstrations. It is very noisy and social. It is modeled on NAEA’s exhibitors hall, but our tables are free. The Share Fair serves an important function at Art in the Sun. It allows us to stay at one venue for the entire conference. High School students are still attending classes and the classrooms are not available until after lunch on Friday.
Rules for VENDORS
All UAEA vendors can have a Share Fair table for free. We encourage vendors to bring a few of their products to share with the teachers, and let them try things out. Vendors do not receive a stipend or a UAEA gift.
Rules for PRE-SERVICE STUDENTS
There will be a Share Fair table set up for every university in Utah. Pre-service does not have to sign up to present on the UAEA website. UAEA would like to encourage all art pre-service students to present at their university’s table. A popular table in the past included the selling of aprons (silk screened by U of U students to help pay their costs to attend UAEA). Pre-service students could also sell gear and t-shirts from their universities. Pre-service students will not receive a stipend or a UAEA gift.
Rules for ARTS ORGANIZATIONS
Arts Organizations such as BTS, SHIFT, UMFA, SWAP, UDAM etc. can have a Share Fair table for free. The Share Fair is a good time to give out flyers and disseminate information. Arts Organizations will not receive a stipend or a gift from UAEA. It is also fun (but not required), for arts organizations to let the crowd at the Share Fair try out some small hands-on projects.
Rules for HANDS-ON LESSON PLAN DEMONSTRATIONS
Hands-on activities are very popular at the Share Fair. Lesson plans can be shown on a lap top or given out, but this is not required. A $35 stipend will be paid to hands-on presenters. Hands-on presentations can also be a “teaser” for presenting a regular session at UAEA. If two presentations are given, presenters can also apply for a reimbursement of art supplies (up to $25), at the UAEA registration table. Original receipts must be stapled to a UAEA supplies reimbursement form and turned in (at the registration table) before the end of the conference. Hands-on presenters will receive a UAEA gift.
Rules for MORE THAN ONE PRESENTER
If two or more presenters share a table that is hands-on, they will only receive one stipend and one UAEA gift.
UAEA CONTESTS and DOOR PRIZES
UAEA will usually take 3-4 tables for door prizes, and art contests.
PLEASE, (with the exception of the pre-service students), all Share Fair tables need to be reserved in advance. Go to the UAEA website and sign up as a presenter and specify that this will be a Share Fair table. Hands-on Presenters will not receive a stipend if they have not signed up as a Share Fair presenter before the presenter deadline. UAEA needs to know that you want to present a Share Fair table and will have a little sign set out on the table. Please use the last 15 minutes of Job-Alike PLC time to set up your Share Fair table.
